OUR MISSION
Founded in 2020, the HeartWise Project aims to bring joy to the lives of both seniors and youth by connecting them through weekly one-on-one video/phone calls and other virtual activities. Because of the novel COVID-19 pandemic, many have been isolated and lack social connections. To relieve this, the HeartWise Project provides student volunteers the unique opportunity to create strong, long-lasting bonds with older adults. OUR PROGRAMS
Call Companion Program
The Call Companion Program pairs high schoolers and college students up with senior residents and lets them bond over weekly 30-minute one-on-one phone/video calls. HeartWise members and their partners can chat, ask each other questions, play games, and do other activities over the phone to provide companionship to each other while staying safe at home. Members also have the chance to connect with residents from all over the country! Please note that you must be at least 14 years old to join this program.
LOVE Program
The LOVE (Linking Opportunities for the Venerable Elderly) Program allows HeartWise members to share videos of their talents and hobbies with senior residents to brighten their days. We are currently seeking submissions from all ages for four different categories: music/dance performances, arts/crafts tutorials, recipe demonstrations, and read alouds. Middle/high schoolers and college students are all welcome to join. You must read our Submission Guidelines before submitting! Check the "Submit" page. If you have another idea for a submission, reach out to us through the contact form below or email us at [email protected]. We're always open to new ideas!
